VARIOUS ACTIVITIES IN THE SCHOOL CAMPUS:

  1. Taking up Catechetical Work: An authentic F.C.C. sister co-operates, with the Church for the physical and spiritual well-being of the people of God. We, the sisters of Alvernia are proud of the fact.that we are undertaking all the activities of the church, and are doing our best to lead the people to the Almighty. After gaining spiritual strength from the sacraments, we enter into apostolic work of various types.
  2. Education: Our education aims at the formation of the human person with respect to his ultimate goal. So we devote ourselves generously to the whole enterprise of education, thereby inculcating in the children, the young and the adult, a prayer life, a sense of discipline and responsibility, generosity and truthfulness.
    (a) formal education equips the students academically.They are well trained
    to lead a good life so that they can become an asset to the nation.
    (b) Informal education is adult education. This work is carried on earnestly at
    Sjiastry Nagar, Karamadai, by our sisters, with a view to dispel the ignorance of the illiterate masses.
  3. Serving the poor and nursing the sick: Our founding mother took, the initial step towards this work, which we are doing now, when in 1888, they carried one elderly lady from the street to their home. The Home for the Aged started in the year 1973, now shelters 25 dying destitutes, who are given every possible help. Forty three of them have already attained the feet of the Lord.
  4. Conducting the tailoring classes: The unemployed poor girls equip themselves to start a career of their own from the tailoring classes at Alvemia.
    The question that we ask ourselves after reading these activities and report is: What is our part in uplifting the institution of Alvemia ? Our predecessors planted the sapling and watered it. Now it is our duty to make it as great and as useful as a tree which branches out for the benefit of others.. With God’s help, the heavenly example of our sister, Blessed Alphonsa, and with the blessing of our Seraphic Fathers, St.Francis, ringing in our ears, let us proceed.
    “MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND PROTECT YOU;
    MAY HE SHOW YOU HIS COUNTENANCE AND HAVE MERCY ON YOU;
    MAY HE TURN HIS FACE TO YOU AND GIVE YOU PEACE;
    MAY-THE LORD BLESS YOU”.
